Portland improves bike saftey — even further!

Portland was recently voted one of the most bike friendly cities in the world and now they are taking bike safety one step further. Portland is creating “bike boxes” at intersections that are specifically designed for cyclists and the cars have to wait behind them so that cyclists are easily visible for cars who wish to turn right at the intersection.

Way to go Portland! Keep up the good work!

I kind of have mixed feelings about a traffic devise that encourages bicyclists to pass a queue of cars on the right (right hook accidents are among the most common car-bike accidents). But I love portland unequivocally, my hometown. Here is my favorite bike event in portland:

Really enjoyed January’s bike night! I’d love to get a hold of some of those songs that were bumpin’ out there. Does the guy who created the playlist happen to check this page? If so, I’d love to see the list of songs.

Unfortunately, Robin is off to Guatemala, and southward from there for a few months. But, you can probably reach him at his blog, http://www.robingoestosouthamerica.blogspot.com, and he’s probably stoked to show his playlist off. A lot of effort went into finding tunes to move rears.
